The Spurs ace has been left out of the Three Lions party ahead of the friendly with Spain this weekend. Defoe is battling for a place at club level, which has seen him lose out with England. But the 29-year-old is determined to work his way back into Fabio Capello's plans. "My last match for England ended when I was injured against Switzerland after scoring a hat-trick in the previous game against Bulgaria," said Defoe. "So, in my mind, when I play for England I can score. I just want that buzz again. I just want to go and prove to people that I can do it again. "My record shows I can score goals at that level. "Last season was ruined by injury. The way I have started this season, I am desperate to stay fit. "The manager [Harry Redknapp] wants 20 a season from me - not a problem at all! He has known me since I was 16. "I believe it means he thinks highly of me. It gets me buzzing, he wants goals, I want goals."
