Dawson desperate to return

Dawson has been out of action since suffering knee and ankle injuries in England's win over Bulgaria in September. The 27-year-old admits it was frustrating being forced to watch his team from the sidelines, but he is pushing for a return to the side after being named in the squad for the last two games against Birmingham and FC Twente. "It was frustrating getting injured but now I am feeling as fit as ever," Dawson told The People. "As for the Chelsea game, you always need match fitness - and the only way I am going to get that is by playing. "I have been in full training for two weeks and have been involved in the squads at Birmingham and against FC Twente. "I am itching to get out there but the lads are doing well so I've got to be patient. I just want to be ready for when my chance comes along."
