Crouch calls for killer touch
Crouch was on target for Tottenham as they raced into a 2-0 lead at Werder Bremen in their first group match on Tuesday evening. But Werder battled back and levelled with goals either side of the break from Hugo Almeida and Marko Marin. Crouch also missed a good chance late on to win the match for Spurs, and he admits that they need to adapt quickly to Champions League football. "When you are away from home in the Champions League, the other team are always going to have chances," Crouch told the Evening Standard. "You have to defend well and ride out that storm. I think the disappointing thing was the goal just before half-time. That gave them hope and made their half-time team-talk a lot easier. "We needed to carry on what we were doing. We were murdering them at times, certainly down the left-hand side with Gareth Bale, who was fantastic again, and I think we could have gone on and got more. "We should have kept the ball more and kept going forward - we sat back a little bit and invited too much pressure on but that is something we will learn with experience." Despite the draw, Crouch insists that Spurs can still be proud of their efforts, adding: "We gave a good account of ourselves. "It is our first taste of Champions League football and I thought we played very well. We proved that we can be a match for any side but we don't want to get carried away because it is only one game. "If you start taking your eye off the ball in this competition, then you get punished. We cannot allow that to happen."
