Andreas Cornelius says it will not faze him to be Cardiff City's record signing as he prepares for his first taste of the Premier League.

Denmark international Cornelius joined the club at the start of the month after a big-money deal, reported to be worth around £7.5million, was agreed with FC Copenhagen.

He signed a five-year deal and was officially presented to the media on Thursday, when he insisted he would relish the challenge of trying to justify his price tag.

Having been prolific in his home nation's Superliga last season, the 20-year-old is confident that he can prosper in English football.

"It's been easy to settle in. Everyone is very friendly at Cardiff," said Cornelius.

"I'm very excited to move here. This is a great opportunity. There is a great squad to work with and I'm looking forward to it.

"It was a bit of a surprise. I did not know Copenhagen were going to let me go. It all went quickly. But I just felt that it was the right decision to make.

"I see the price paid as a motivation for me. If Cardiff want to pay that amount of money for me then I must be good and they must believe that I'm good.

"In Denmark the Premier League matches are shown on TV and it is where players want to play. It is the league with the most viewers.

"It might be a bit more difficult to score goals here, but as long as I am in a good team and I can improve all the time then I really think it will work out."
