Cook wants first-placed finish
New Chesterfield manager Paul Cook is aiming to get the club promoted from League Two as champions.
Cook has succeeded John Sheridan, who left the Proact Stadium at the end of August, after a six-figure compensation package was agreed with his previous club Accrington.
He takes over a team currently 13th in the table, 14 points behind leaders Gillingham.
Chesterfield went up as champions the last time they were in this division two seasons ago and Cook wants to emulate that feat.
"We will be trying to win the league, we won't settle for second best," said Cook. "We want to win the league. There are a lot of league games left and we want to win every single one.
"That's the mentality we have got to have, we can't settle for second best in anything we do - in the preparation or the match - we have got to want to be winners. I want to get the most success for the town, the fans, the whole place and the chairman that's backing us."
