Cook hails Murphy performance
Accrington boss Paul Cook hailed Peter Murphy after his late leveller denied Dagenham their first home league win of the season.
The defender's 85th minute finish salvaged as point just as it looked like the hosts were going to take all three at the London Borough of Barking Stadium.
Midfielder Luke Howell's 61st minute strike put Dagenham on course to end a miserable start to the season. But Murphy's late goal means John Still's misfiring side are without a win in six while Accrington claimed a second successive draw to continue their solid start to the new campaign.
"I thought we at least deserved a draw for our performance," said Cook. "We never stopped battling all afternoon and had enough chances to take the lead.
"But unfortunately we weren't clinical enough in front of goal and didn't give ourselves that breathing space which we wanted. It's frustrating because we conceded a poor goal and that put us on the back foot.
"But credit to the players because they showed lots of character to make sure we got a point."
