Anichebe is entering the final six months of his current contract and as yet no deal has been agreed. Everton are keen to tie down the 22-year-old to a new long-term deal, but could find themselves in a similar position to when they lost Dan Gosling on a free transfer last summer. Anichebe, who has come through the ranks at Goodison Park, could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if a new deal cannot be agreed. The news has alerted a number of British and foreign sides to Anichebe's possible availability. Everton would be due a sizeable compensation fee if Anichebe moved to another English side, but if he was to go abroad he would be available for a cut-price fee. A host of foreign sides are now thought to be weighing up a move for the Nigerian international, knowing they could land him for a bargain price. Talks with Everton are ongoing and the club are keen to avoid losing the powerful forward for nothing next summer
