Chelsea has signed Raul Meireles from Liverpool on a four-year contract.
The Portugal midfielder handed in a transfer request at Liverpool shortly before the summer transfer window closed at 2200 GMT Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Meireles, who only signed for the northwest club a year ago from FC Porto for ?14 million ($18 million), is currently sidelined with a collarbone injury.
