Chelsea coach fined for taunting Mourinho

LONDON (AP) — The member of Chelsea's coaching staff who sparked a touchline skirmish by taunting Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho at the end of a Premier League match has been fined 6,000 pounds ($7,600).

The English Football Association says Marco Ianni was handed the sanction after admitting to a charge of improper conduct in relation to his behavior in the Oct. 20 game at Stamford Bridge.

Ianni celebrated wildly beside the field following Ross Barkley's injury-time equalizer for Chelsea in the 2-2 draw against United and, at one stage, goaded Mourinho and others on the United bench. Mourinho leapt from his seat in the dugout and attempted to confront Ianni, only to be held back by security staff and members of his own coaching team.

Mourinho, who was "formally reminded of his responsibilities" following the incident, said Ianni had apologized for his behavior.
