Chechen-owned Neuchatel Xamax is facing disciplinary action by the Swiss league as its players go on strike for non-payment of wages.

The Swiss league says Xamax has failed to provide documents in order to keep its playing license. Clubs must provide bank guarantees that they can honor their budget.

The league says its disciplinary commission could hear Xamax's case next week.

The Swiss players' union says Xamax failed to pay wages for September.

Lucien Valloni, the union president, says players will skip training on Wednesday and are considering boycotting matches.

Xamax is sixth in the 10-team league, but was eliminated from the Swiss Cup by second-tier Kriens.

Chechen businessman Bulat Chagaev bought the club in May.
