Celtic midfielder Kayal to miss rest of season

Celtic will have to try winning its last three Scottish Premier League matches without Beram Kayal after the Israeli midfielder was ruled out for the season because of a fractured wrist.

Kayal was hurt in Wednesday's 3-2 loss at Inverness, which left Celtic reliant on Rangers dropping points if it is to overhaul its fierce city rival at the top of the league.

Defending champion Rangers leads by a single point.

Celtic says Kayal ''requires surgery and faces a possible two to three months of rehabilitation,'' which also rules him out of the May 21 Scottish Cup final against Motherwell.
