Celtic leave Efe Ambrose and Kris Commons off Champions League Squad
Celtic have announced the 34 members of their squad for their upcoming Champions League campaign, and only filled 24 of the available 25 first-team places.
Among those most notably absent from the squad are Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose and Kris Commons. Ambrose was in the squad for many of the Champions League qualifying rounds for Celtic, but after high profile mistakes, the Nigerian finds himself outside the squad.

Kristoffer Ajer and Anthony Ralston were in the previous qualifier squads, but also find themselves out of the squad for Celtic’s upcoming ties against Barcelona, Manchester City, and Borrusia Mönchengladbach. Among those added to the squad include defender Jozo, Simunovic.
The Croatian seemed to be on his way to Torino, but the move fell through on transfer deadline day. New signing Cristian Gamboa, along with Logan Bailly and Gary Mackay-Steven has also been added to the squad.
Mackay-Steven’s inclusion is particularly interesting as he turned down a loan move to Ross County to try and impress Rodgers and his staff. It appears he is rounding in to form after a long injury run this past season under manager Ronny Delia.
