Cech: We must build on City win
The Blues stormed right back into the thick of the title race on Monday night by becoming the first team to beat City in the Premier League this season. But goalkeeper Cech admitted that would mean nothing if Chelsea failed to take all three points in the late kick-off at the DW Stadium ahead of City's clash with Arsenal on Sunday. "Beating City was important, of course, because it enabled us to get a bit closer," Cech told his club's official website. "City are seven points in front so they still have an advantage, but suddenly the pressure from the teams below is a bit bigger, so let's see how they cope with it. "We need three points and, with City playing Arsenal this weekend - two teams who are around us - let's see what happens. "We can only take advantage of any result if we win our own game. "Monday's win will count for nothing unless we beat Wigan." Chelsea will be hot favourites to close to within four points of City but they will be facing a Wigan side in their best form of the season following two wins from their last three games. "For them, any point will be a great result because we are the favourites for the game," Cech said. "They will try to get whatever they can but it's really up to us - if are attitude is right we should get the three points." Chelsea will be more marginal favourites to win their Champions League last-16 clash with Napoli, who they were paired with in yesterday's draw. Cech said: "It's a very dangerous game because, at the moment, they are flying high. "But the game is in February and in football things can change quickly. "The away game in particular will be very tough, their stadium is known for having one of the best atmospheres in Europe and it will be bouncing, so I'm looking forward to it." Napoli effectively knocked City out of the competition and Cech is particularly wary of one of their attacking threats in particular. "I played against Marek Hamsik for Czech Republic against Slovakia," he said. "He's a very good player but, as a team, they are very strong and I feel that is their biggest strength."
