Carlton Cole admits to charge over Twitter joke

BY foxsports • April 14, 2011

West Ham striker Carlton Cole has acknowledged a charge of improper conduct from the Football Association over comments he made on Twitter during England's friendly against Ghana last month.

Cole joked that the match at Wembley was a trap by the British government to find illegal immigrants. He deleted the comment, but was still charged.

The FA says it has granted Cole a personal hearing at his request, adding that it will take place before April 21.

Several thousand Ghana fans attended their country's first match against England, which ended 1-1.
