Canaries hit eight in Germany

The Canaries played 45 minutes against two local sides, Sparta and RSV, and put four goals past each of them. James Vaughan opened his account for the Premier League new boys with a seventh-minute half-volley and it was 2-0 soon after. Grant Holt set up Simeon Jackson for a third and youngster George Francomb made it 4-0 against the Sparta select with a superb 25-yard effort. RSV fared little better in their half of action, soon conceding a fifth to summer addition Steve Morison. Elliott Bennett added a sixth and the last two goals came from the head of centre-back Elliott Ward. The Canaries are back in Britain next week and take on Crystal Palace, Southend and Coventry before glamour friendlies with Real Zaragoza and Parma.
