Campbell could face Stoke
Campbell has made just one brief substitute's appearance since he started in Pardew's first match in charge against Liverpool in December. Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson and Steven Taylor are all in front of Campbell in Pardew's pecking order, but the 36-year-old could be drafted in against Stoke next weekend. Magpies boss Pardew is concerned about Stoke's aerial threat and has confirmed Campbell is in contention to feature at the Britannia Stadium. "Sol was a bit unfortunate not to get on the pitch against Bolton," said Pardew in the Sunday Sun. "I chose Steven (Taylor) over him, but there wasn't a lot to choose between them. "We play Stoke next and Sol's probably got more chance playing against Stoke than any other team, because you need to have your big headers of the ball in that game. "You can't take too much away from yourself, but you have to be able to cope with 15 or so long throws in your box and maybe 10 set plays. "He's got a good chance of playing in that game."
