Cameroon national football team goes on strike

Cameroon's national football team has gone on strike and refused to travel for a friendly against Algeria, saying they haven't been paid appearance money promised to them by their national federation.

Cameroon's players say they would not travel from Morocco to Algiers for Tuesday's match in the LG Cup Africa tournament because their federation had not fulfilled ''the minimum requirements with respect to them (the players).''

Algeria's football federation canceled the match and said it deplored the situation, calling it ''unacceptable and anti-sporting.''

The dispute reportedly centers on a $30,000 appearance bonus promised to each player. The players said that they raised the problems over payments a week ago and ''no solution was forthcoming.''
