Brunt failed on Saturday for the third time in five attempts, hooking his attempt well wide following the incident which saw Villa midfielder Chris Herd sent off for a challenge on Jonas Olsson. But Brunt is willing to put his hand up and retain the responsibility if the Baggies win another penalty. Brunt, who atoned by setting up both Albion goals in a 2-1 Premier League win, said: "The penalty ended up in my back garden, I think. I didn't catch it well at all. "It was disappointing but it happened last season and we went on to the win the game as well. "The gaffer said after the game that maybe missing penalties is a good sign for us - but in the long term, it's probably not a good idea! "I'll probably get the mickey taken out of me in the week. There was disbelief it went that far wide. "I don't know how you can miss the goal by that far from that far out but I just didn't strike it well, it's as simple as that. "I'm sure I'll do better next time and, if we get another, of course I'll put my hand up. "It's part and parcel of football and there have been stacks of people missing penalties, so I am one on a long list." Albion will find out the extent of striker Shane Long's knee injury - suffered in a challenge by Villa defender Alan Hutton - during the early part of this week. Brunt said: "Losing Longy was a big blow for us because he had looked pretty lively and I think that was quite a bad tackle. "I haven't seen it myself but I think quite a few of the staff were complaining that it was a bad challenge. "It sounds like a pretty dangerous one so maybe he was lucky to get away with it."
