Brunt in the clear for Baggies

A booking at the Stadium of Light would have led to an automatic two-match suspension but, following Sunday's card amnesty, Brunt can breath easy again. He told the Express & Star: "The gaffer mentioned it to me a couple of times and he told me he wanted me available for games. "I think he toyed with the idea of leaving me out against Sunderland, which I'd have been disappointed with. "But the gaffer has got to look at the bigger picture and, with the decisions he's made so far, you can't really question him. "I'm not sure whether that was the gaffer's reasoning for taking me off. I'm sure that was going through his head. "I was delighted to get through it and I think, for the amount of football I've played this season, nine yellow cards isn't too bad. I'd have been gutted to be banned for two games. "You have a responsibility to your team and the club. Having a player missing for two games at an important part of the season is not ideal for anyone."
