Bridge: City more determined than ever
A dramatic 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United on Saturday, coupled with Tottenham's victory over Chelsea on Sunday, saw the Blues topple out of the Champions League places. Paul Scholes' stoppage-time winner did the damage at Eastlands, ensuring that the Red Devils claimed a third last-gasp victory of the season over their near neighbours. Bridge admits the nature of the defeat has been difficult to stomach, but insists City will bounce back stronger and are now even more determined to secure a top-four finish. "Losing like we did was agonising, especially as we didn't deserve to be beaten like that," Bridge told City's official website. "I thought we deserved more than we got, even more than the draw that we nearly had. They have done it to us before and it has happened again. We just can't afford to switch off like we did for the last ten seconds or so. "We created a few chances, I had one myself late on, but I didn't really have the energy to put my foot through it and score. It was a weak effort. "Losing was a real kick in the teeth but the prize is still there. The momentum is perhaps with Spurs but at the same time we know that fourth place is still in our hands. "If anything, losing like we did has just made us even more determined, that was the mood in the dressing room afterwards. "We will be working even harder to make sure that we are in the top four come the end of the season." Bridge, who has only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines, took a blow to the knee against United but insists he will be raring to go when City travel to Arsenal on Saturday. "I got a bang on the knee but it is fine and I will be okay," he said. "I feel shattered but we will all be ready to go at Arsenal next weekend. We were down on Saturday afternoon but we are clearly not out."
