Bolanos in frame for shock Liga return
Liga Deportiva Universitaria midfielder Fernando Hidalgo knows he will have to work hard to stop Universidad de Chile players in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana finals.
The Ecuadorian side reached the final by eliminating Velez Sarsfield of Argentina, while Universidad de Chile defeated Brazil's Vasco da Gama and will try to win their first international title.
Liga will try to lift the trophy they won in 2009 with victory over Fluminense in Brazil.
Hidalgo told FM Deportiva radio show: "We should not let the ball go around the Liga half. As soon as we have the opportunity to score, we must be accurate.
"Universidad have a lot of good players who know how to play good football. In attack, they are fast.''
Attacking midfielder Luis Bolanos has surprisingly recovered from a leg injury that could have ruled him out until the new year.
He told FM Deportiva that he could be on the bench at the Estadio Casa Blanca Thursday, adding: "I am very well. I felt no pain in training.
"I've been training normally. I hope I can do my job well on Thursday and help the team on whatever the coach needs.
"Universidad are very tough rivals. We watched some videos and they play very well. They pressure a lot in all the lines.''
Universidad captain Jose Rojas, meanwhile, says his team are anxiously waiting for the match in Quito, at 2,800 metres above sea level.
"We know Liga are a great team, but we also have what it takes,'' he told reporters at Quito airport.
"We are not favourites to win this final. We'll go towards the win just like we've done so far. Finals were made to be won.''
Argentinian midfielder Guillermo Marino added: "We reached the finals in good form. We will not change anything of our football form. Everybody in Chile is waiting for these finals.''
The second leg will be played next Wednesday in Santiago.
