Wolves failed to capitalise on the sending-off of Blues midfielder Craig Gardner and remain in the bottom three after sharing the spoils at St Andrew's. Gardner was sent off after only 29 minutes for the second of two bookable offences and faces a two-game ban as it was his second dismissal of the campaign. But Birmingham held on for a point in their own battle for survival with Sebastian Larsson cancelling out Steven Fletcher's early penalty. At Anfield, Dirk Kuyt scored his eighth goal in seven Premier League matches as Liverpool ran out comfortable winners over Newcastle to move into fifth place. The Holland international struck from the penalty spot in the second half to double the lead given to his side by Maxi Rodriguez's fourth in two games. Luis Suarez added a third but former Magpies striker Andy Carroll could not score against his old club despite a 20-minute substitute appearance.
