Blackwell set to axe 'garbage'

Bury's new manager Kevin Blackwell described some of his players as "garbage" after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Swindon in League One.

James Collins' first league goal for the visitors sealed the three points, his stunning 20-yard lob inside 30 seconds giving Bury goalkeeper Trevor Carson no chance at Gigg Lane.

Blackwell said: "To be fair, we kept going, but we didn't work their goalkeeper enough. Sometimes the players have to take responsibility and certain players didn't do that. I'm not going to accept it.

"I've said to the board we need to change players and some new players are going to have to come in. I'm well aware of what's wrong here and I've been here seven days.

"Something's got to happen so I've got to change it and I will change it the best I can.

"Some of the signings have been garbage. The jury's out on some of them and I make judgements quickly. Unlike Abu Hamza, who took 14 years, I'll make a judgement quickly and I'll move them out."
