Blackburn forgets United rout to beat Wolves 3-0
Blackburn rebounded from its 7-1 humiliation by Manchested United in the Premier League to beat struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 on Saturday.
Blackburn coach Sam Allardyce apologized to fans after the Nov. 27 rout but made only two changes against Wolves, including Morten Gamst Pedersen whose long corner in the 29th led to David Dunn scoring with a header.
Wolves almost equalized two minutes later when former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson could only parry a long-range shot by midfielder Nenad Milijas.
Blackburn made it 2-0 in the 43nd when Brett Emerton swept in a left foot shot.
A free kick from Pedersen set up a goal from Ryan Nelsen in the 55th to push Wolves to the bottom of the league with 12 points from 16 games.
George Elokobi almost scored for Wolves in the 71st but Robinson did well to stop the rising left foot shot.
Wolves came close again six minutes later when substitute Stephen Hunt's powerful low drive was kept out by a superb one-handed save by Robinson.
Hunt was denied again deep into injury time when his twisting shot from just inside the box was tipped out for a corner by Robinson.
Wolves has conceded at least one goal in every league game since April and lost its last seven straight away games. The team remains in the relegation zone with 12 points from 16 matches.
Blackburn has 21 points from 15 matches.
