Black Country battle for Arca

Arca has just six months left on his current deal at The Riverside. Boro have already confirmed they are looking to balance their books and some of their higher earners look set to be allowed to leave. Arca is understood to be one of the best-paid players at the club and although he has been involved heavily under Tony Mowbray, he could be on the move. The 29-year-old has been with Boro since 2006 when he joined from North-East rivals Sunderland. But now he could be ready to head away from Teesside, with both West Brom and Wolves believed to be keeping tabs on his situation. Arca would have few problems fitting into West Brom's free-flowing style of football, while Wolves manager Mick McCarthy knows him well from their time together at Sunderland. Albion are also believed to be interested in Boro centre-back David Wheater, who is also a reported target for Stoke.
