Karim Benzema returned to practice with Real Madrid on Wednesday, a day after he was implicated in a prostitution ring.
Benzema practiced with new coach Jose Mourinho after arriving from Paris, where the 22-year-old was detained with Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery for questioning by a special prostitution brigade on Tuesday.
The players could face up to three years in prison and a $60,000 fine if found guilty of paying to have sex with a minor. Prostitution is legal in France, but prostitutes must be over 18 years old, and clients are liable if they are not.
Managing director Jorge Valdano said Wednesday that ''Real Madrid will support its player.''
Benzema scored nine goals in 33 appearances since his $50-million transfer from Lyon last year.
