Benchikha is new coach of Algerian national team
Abdelhak Benchikha is the new coach of the Algerian national team.
The Algerian Football Federation announced the appointment on Monday.
The 47-year-old Benchikha has been leading the national team on a caretaker basis since Rabah Saadane resigned Sept. 4, a day after the team's disappointing 1-1 home draw with Tanzania in a 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Benchikha previously coached Algeria's under-17 squad.
Saadane took charge three years ago and steered Algeria to this year's World Cup, ending a 24-year wait. Algeria went out in the group stage in South Africa after being drawn against England, the United States and Slovenia.
