Been fears long lay-off for Tomasson
The 34-year-old has not featured for the Rotterdam club so far this season after suffering a thigh injury three months ago while playing for Denmark at the World Cup. Been told ad.nl: "I have long hoped to have him back quickly, but the messages I get now are far from optimistic. "It is still at least a few weeks. I fear he is unavailable for the winter." Tomasson, who is in the final year of his contract at De Kuip, played on in South Africa after sustaining the injury as Denmark coach Morten Olsen had already made his three substitutions. "This seriously aggravated the injury," said club doctor Casper van Eijck. Tomasson returned to his homeland from South Africa and underwent treatment on a tendon strain. However, after being forced out of a training session early last month, Van Eijck realised there was more to the problem. "There is an added injury - a muscular injury," he added. "It is a complex issue and annoying for the club and especially for Jon himself."
