Bayern to face Augsburg in 3rd round of German Cup

Defending champion Bayern Munich was drawn Sunday to host Bundesliga rival Augsburg for a Bavarian derby in the third round of the German Cup.

Borussia Dortmund was handed an easier task on paper, with a trip to third-division Saarbruecken, the lowest-ranked remaining side. Dortmund, the 2012 champion, was taken to extra-time by second division 1860 Munich last Tuesday.

Schalke, the 2011 winner, faces Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen will play at Freiburg in two games between Bundesliga rivals.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger SV and Wolfsburg were all handed home advantage against second-division sides SV Sandhausen, Cologne and Ingolstadt, respectively.

Union Berlin will host Kaiserslautern in a clash between second-division rivals. Kaiserslautern eliminated Union's city rival Hertha Berlin in the second round.

The games will be played on Dec. 3-4.
