VIGO, Spain -- Germany forward Thomas Muller was substituted in Tuesday's friendly in Spain after picking up an apparent back injury.

The Bayern Munich player asked to be substituted in the 22nd minute after trying to return to the pitch following a collision with Sergio Ramos.

Muller had received medical attention on the bench and had returned to the pitch, but only lasted a few minutes before requesting the change.

Bayern lost captain Philipp Lahm for up to three months after he broke his right ankle in training with the club earlier on Tuesday.
