Swiss champion Basel has suspended Argentine forward Raul Bobadilla after he was caught speeding this week.

Basel president Bernhard Heusler says in a club statement that it ''can't tolerate such behavior.''

Bobadilla was stopped by police after driving his Maserati at 111 kilometers per hour (69 mph) through a village where the limit was 50 kph (31 mph).

The 26-year-old player was front-page news in best-selling Switzerland daily Blick on Friday.

Bobadilla will miss a home league match against Lausanne-Sport on Saturday.

Basel signed Bobadilla from league rival Young Boys in January, though he could not play until completing a seven-match ban for insulting a referee after being shown a red card.
