Stoke's proposed move for Demba Ba has fallen through after the Hoffenheim striker failed a medical examination.

The 25-year-old Senegal international had been set to leave the German club and join Premier League Stoke for 7 million pounds ($11 million).

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes says that ''having agreed all the financial terms of the deal with Hoffenheim and the player, he failed his medical. We will therefore not be signing him on a permanent basis.''
