Barry says City squad can cope
The Etihad Stadium outfit, who have enjoyed a blistering start to the new Premier League season, made their UEFA Champions League bow on Wednesday night, drawing 1-1 at home to Serie A outfit Napoli. Roberto Mancini's men must also face Bayern Munich and Villarreal in Group A as they tackle the cream of the continent, while also attempting to challenge for glory on the home front. And England international Barry admits it will be a testing experience for the expensively-assembled North West club, but believes that their strength in depth will stand them in good stead. Barry told Sky Sports: "It's going to be a tough act for us to experience this in the Champions League - playing away in Europe and then bouncing back to the Premier League. "It is something we are going to have to adapt to quickly, but we have got a big squad and everyone is ready to step in when they are needed." The Premier League fixture compilers have not been kind on City this season, with each of their six Champions League group matches followed by an away game in the top-flight. The first of those encounters comes this weekend with a trip to west London to tackle Fulham, where Mancini's men will look for a fifth successive Premier League victory, while they also face journeys to Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool off the back of European games. And while first-team coach David Platt admits the schedule is something of a concern, he is focused only on taking all three points against the Cottagers. Platt added: "We can only worry about things that we can control. It's not worked out great for us in that sense - more about the travel than the game. "But that's the way it is, we've got to go to Fulham at the weekend and make sure we continue our good Premier League form."
