Barcelona upset over managerial link with Real Madrid's Ancelotti
Barcelona have reacted angrily to reports in Spain suggesting Carlo Ancelotti is on their shortlist to replace Luis Enrique as manager.
El Pais reported on Wednesday that Real Madrid manager Ancelotti, who has endured a trophyless season at the Bernabeu, is among several candidates for the Nou Camp job - even though Enrique is on the verge of a treble-winning season..
But Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists the speculation is false and has been fabricated to "destabilize" the club with a Copa del Rey and Champions League final to come.
"We are very angry about the Carlo Ancelotti situation," he said. "It's completely false and a lie. These things lead us to believe that they are being said to destabiliZe Barcelona in the sporting sense.
"[Enrique] has a contract and he will continue. He has done a great job. Will the contract be extended? We'll talk about that in the future. I'd be delighted if Luis Enrique stays here for many years, but there are elections on the horizon."
