Barcelona opens league season at Racing Santander

Spanish champion Barcelona will open the new league season at Racing Santander on Aug. 28, when runner-up Real Madrid travels to Mallorca.

The season schedule was announced Tuesday, with Barcelona hosting Madrid on Nov. 28 before the return match on April 17.

Barcelona, coached by Pep Guardiola, has won the championship for the past two seasons with Madrid finishing as runner-up.

Jose Mourinho is Madrid's new coach this season.

The three promoted teams in the 20-side division are Hercules, Real Sociedad and Levante.
