Ballack likely to leave Leverkusen

Veteran midfielder Michael Ballack has admitted he is likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

The former Germany captain is out of contract next summer at the BayArena and has no plans to extend his current deal.

Ballack left Chelsea for Leverkusen in 2010 after letting his contract run down at Stamford Bridge.

And now he could be set to do the same again two years on after not being an automatic starter for the Bundesliga side.

He told Sky Deutschland: "At this moment in time I have little thoughts about continuing with Bayer Leverkusen and extending my outrunning contract.

"Right now I feel this is my final campaign in the colours of Bayer Leverkusen. I still have the desire to continue my career."

That view was supported by Leverkusen general manager Rudi Völler, who expects the midfielder to leave the club at the end of the season.

Völler said: "Right in this moment we are expecting to see the end come this summer."
