Baggies leading Vaughan race
The Wales international is available on a free transfer and the Baggies have held preliminary talks with the 28-year-old, according to the Express & Star, with Vaughan keen on a move to The Hawthorns. He has also spoken to Steve Bruce's Black Cats and Scottish champions Rangers, as well as being offered a new deal by Blackpool after sweeping the board in their end-of-season awards. But it is believed that Albion gaffer Roy Hodgson, who has already signed defender Gareth McAuley on a free transfer from Ipswich, is now at the front of the queue to sign the former Crewe schemer, with a three-year deal reportedly on the table at The Hawthorns. Vaughan had previously said: "These last two years at Bloomfield Road have been great and have probably been the best years of my career, so hopefully wherever I may be next year - if it's Blackpool or not - I can keep my form going. "I don't know what the future holds just yet but if I do go somewhere else I will take away nothing but happy memories."
