Baggies hoping Mulumbu makes it

BY foxsports • February 14, 2011

Mulumbu limped out of the 3-3 draw with West Ham on Saturday with a thigh/hamstring injury and there were initial fears that he had no chance of being fit for the big Black Country clash on Sunday. Mulumbu wrote on Twitter: "Injured in my right thigh, probably off for several days and very disappointed for the match result." But caretaker coach Michael Appleton, who hands over the reins to Roy Hodgson in time for Sunday, offered a slightly more positive bulletin. He added: "We're hoping it's not too bad. He started to feel it stiffening up. Taking him off was precautionary, with some big games coming up. "Youssouf has been a big influence on the team all season - home and away. "He does a fantastic job for us and his role in the team is key. Obviously him going off on Saturday didn't help but I'm not here to make excuses."
