Austin hoping Howe stays put
Charlie Austin has admitted he would find it devastating if Eddie Howe left Burnley as the manager has placed so much faith in him.
The Clarets confirmed on Thursday that an 'unwanted' approach had been received from Bournemouth for Howe, and no permission has been given for the manager to speak to his former club.
Austin was brought to Turf Moor by Howe in January 2011 and he is anxious to see whether his boss stays.
"We've come in to training this morning and we've heard the same stories as everyone else, and now we're just waiting to see what happens," Austin told the Football League Hour on Sky Sports News Radio.
"I hope he stays but obviously we have to respect his decision."
Asked if he would be devastated if Howe leaves, Austin added: "Yes, I'd say so. Obviously I'm in the team to score goals but if that's not happening I do my job as a team player.
"The manager's shown great faith in me. He has spent the money to bring me from Swindon to Burnley, and it would be sad if he did leave."
