Augsburg continued their solid recent run in the Bundesliga by holding on for a creditable 1-1 draw at Hamburg.

Paolo Guerrero secured a point for HSV with a 67th-minute equaliser after Torsten Oehrl had put the visitors ahead five minutes earlier.

Augsburg had collected just five points away from home this season heading into the game, but picked up points for the third time in their last four matches to improve to 15 points.

Hamburg remained undefeated in their nine Bundesliga matches under new head coach Thorsten Fink, and remained four points better off than their opponents.

Augsburg goalkeeper Mohamed Amsif made a great save in the seventh minute to keep out a fierce Ivo Ilicevic drive from the edge of the box.

Hamburg had another fine chance after 29 minutes but Amsif produced a smart save to deny Guerrero.

Augsburg had two opportunities in the 31st minute but Hamburg keeper Jaroslav Drobny saved Oehrl's header as well as Daniel Baier's attempt from the rebound.

Amsif had to be alert again a minute after the restart to preserve his sheet, fending away Guerrero's blast while Mladen Petric headed inches wide of the right post in the 54th minute.

The deadlock was broken soon after the hour mark when Oehrl latched onto Tobias Werner's pass just inside the box, turned between Hamburg centre-backs Jeffrey Bruma and Heiko Westermann and then powered a fine effort into the bottom-left corner.

The lead lasted only five minutes, though, before Guerrero headed home Dennis Aogo's free kick.

Augsburg had one more good chance after 72 minutes but Baier lashed just wide from 14 yards.

Guerrero missed two further opportunities to snatch a winner for the hosts, heading over the bar in the 81st minute and then watching Amsif keep out another header a minute into stoppage time.
