Armenia beats Andorra 4-0 in Euro qualifying
Armenia scored three goals in the first half and added one more after the break to secure a 4-0 win over Andorra in their 2012 European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.
Gevorg Ghazaryan opened the scoring with a powerful drive from outside the box just four minutes into the game. It was Armenia's 100th goal since the country gained independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The home side dominated the game and finished with 19 shots, compared to the visitors' five.
Goalkeeper Jose Antonio Gomes blocked Yura Movsisyan's low shot from the right but Henrik Mkhitaryan was quick to score from the rebound and make it 2-0 in the 16th.
Movsisyan then volleyed in Sargis Hovsepyan's cross from the right in the 33rd.
Marcos Pizzelli hit the target from long range to make it 4-0 in the 52nd.
The win put Armenia top of Group B with seven points from four games, although Russia, Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland each has six points and a game in hand.
Armenia next hosts Russia on March 26, while Andorra will host Slovakia.
