Estudiantes took over first place in the Argentina Apertura tournament by defeating Huracan 2-0 on Saturday.
Gabriel Mercado gave Estudiantes a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute and Enzo Perez made it 2-0 in the 57th.
Estudiantes has 33 points in 15 matches and Huracan has 13 with four rounds to go. Second-place Velez has 30 points but could improve to 33 on Sunday with a victory over Gimnasia.
In Saturday's other match, All Boys defeated Newell's Old Boys 2-0. All Boys improved to 22 points, the same as Newell's. Mauro Matos and Emanuel Perea scored for All Boys.
Juan Sebastian Veron was the difference for Estudiantes, with the veteran midfielder known as "The Witch" repeatedly guiding perfectly weighted passes through the Huracan defense.
Mercado scored on a scrambled shot around the goalmouth following a free kick from Veron. On the second, Veron split the defense with a ball to Perez, who finished neatly from 10 meters.
