Anichebe feeling fighting fit

The Nigerian striker has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury during pre-season. It has been a long road back for the 22-year-old, with his latest problem coming on the back of an injury-hit 2009/10 campaign. He is, however, adamant that those troubles are now behind him and has set his sights on forcing his way into David Moyes' plans as soon as possible. "It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt, towards the last half-an-hour I was dying but it's good to get the game time and hopefully it will take me a long way," Anichebe told the Toffees' official website following a date with Liverpool on Tuesday. "I would say the injury is behind me. I feel it sometimes and it's been a long time but it was good psychologically to come through it and hopefully all my injuries are behind me as it has been a tough last 18 months with being injured, coming back and then getting injured again." He added: "Hopefully the manager will be thinking about me now, but we will see. "I am taking slow steps and I can't just think I am going to play, but hopefully I will be around the first team again soon." Meanwhile, club captain Phil Neville is hoping that the unpredictability of the Premier League this season plays into Everton's hands. The Toffees currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, but a decent run of form could soon see them pushing for a European place. Neville said: "The league table doesn't lie. We are where we are because we haven't turned draws into victories. "We have to be a little bit more ruthless in the final third, maybe shoot a bit more and hopefully we will be up there. "In the past, and I have played in championship winning teams, you have had to go on runs of 10-15 games of consistently winning games but now it looks like it is coming down to 5-10 games. "You can see with the way the league is shaping up that a run of victories will take you right up the table."
