Aston Villa has opened talks with American goalkeeper Brad Friedel about signing a new contract.
The 39-year-old Friedel's current deal runs out at the end of the season.
Friedel's agent, Tony McGill, says talks with Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner ''are going very well indeed,'' adding that ''Brad is very happy at Villa.''
Friedel joined Villa from Blackburn in 2008 and has been a consistent performer for the Premier League club.
