Akpa Akpro set for a spell out

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore has revealed he could be without top scorer Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro for up to three months.

Akpa Akpro, who has seven goals to his name for the League One pacesetters, limped out of Saturday's 1-0 win over Notts County amid fears of a broken foot.

Moore told Tranmere Player: "We're desperate that he's going to be okay but Gregg (Blundell, Tranmere's physio) thinks it might be a fifth metatarsal which would be three months."

If the worst-case scenario is confirmed, Moore intends to move into the loan market and strengthen Rovers' attacking options.

"He's going to have an x-ray and if it is his metatarsal, he'll have it pinned," he added. "And then we'll probably be looking to see if we can bring in a striker to add to the squad."

Moore had better news on playmaker Andy Robinson, who could be fit to face Yeovil at the weekend following a hamstring injury.
