Ajax back on track with win

The capital club hit the headlines for the wrong reasons this week after their entire board resigned following a dispute with Johan Cruyff over how the club should be run. But second-half goals from Oleguer, Siem de Jong and substitute Aras Ozbiliz helped to refocus attention back to on-field issues as the Amsterdammers moved five points behind leaders FC Twente. Elsewhere, fifth-placed ADO Den Haag came from a goal down to triumph 3-2 at FC Utrecht to remain on course for a Europa League play-off berth. Edouard Duplan had opened the scoring for the hosts in the 33rd minute but teenager Charlton Vicento equalised six minutes later. Aleksandar Radosavljevic put them ahead just after the hour and Dmitri Bulykin sealed matters with a 66th-minute penalty. Teenager Vicento saw red 10 minutes later for two soft bookable offences in quick succession and Utrecht made the most of their man advantage by immediately pulling a goal back through Kevin Strootman, but they could not get back on level terms. A strong first-half performance provided the foundation for FC Groningen's 3-2 defeat of VVV-Venlo at the Euroborg. Dusan Tadic, Andreas Granqvist and Nicklas Pedersen all netted before half-time as Pieter Huistra's team took control of the contest. Although Dario Vujicevic responded before the interval and Robert Cullen netted VVV's second goal in the second half, there was no way back for the relegation-threatened visitors. Finally, Marcus Pedersen struck the winner 10 minutes from time as Vitesse Arnhem took a big step towards avoiding relegation with a 2-1 derby win over NEC Nijmegen. Wilfried Bony opened the scoring for the hosts before the break but John Goossens levelled shortly after the hour mark, only for Pedersen to nod home from close range.
