Agent: Mexico made offer to Pellegrini

The agent for Manuel Pellegrini says the former Real Madrid coach has been contacted by Mexican officials about taking over as coach of Mexico's national team, which has been without a leader since Javier Aguirre resigned earlier this month.
Jesus Martinez, the agent for Pellegrini, said in a radio interview Thursday that Mexican officials had made an offer to Pellegrini, who was fired by Real Madrid after last season.
''There is an offer from Mexico that is being talked about,'' Martinez told radio Agricultura.
Martinez called Mexico ''a possibility'' for Pellegrini, who is a Chilean.
The Mexican federation was not immediately available for comment.
Pellegrini, who was replaced at Real Madrid by Jose Mourinho, said in an interview earlier this month that he hoped to coach another European club team and eventually wanted to coach Chile's national team.
Aguirre resigned following Mexico's 3-1 loss to Argentina in the round of 16 at the World Cup.
