Agbonlahor 'committed' to Villa
The 24-year-old striker, who signed a five-year deal to stay at the West Midlands' giants just last month has shown a public declaration of faith. Despite reported interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham, the Birmingham-born player claims he has never been happier. Agbonlahor told The People: "Villa is where I belong and if all goes according to plan I will be here for the rest of my career. "I've been here since I was 13 and there's no reason for me to go anywhere else. "There are players all over the world, like Steven Gerrard who you can't see playing for another club and it's exactly the same with me. "I can remember thinking it would be great to get into the Villa youth team, and then how I'd feel when I got into the first team." Although team-mate Ashley Young has put his contract talks on hold until the end of the season, Agbonlahor admits he did not hesitate signing a new deal. He said: "It suited both parties and I thought I deserved a new deal for the way I was playing. "I think the club were happy I signed after losing (Gareth) Barry and (James) Milner, who are both top players. There is still a lot of ambition here." Agbonlahor insists Villa have enough quality to ease away from the wrong end of the table under manager Gerard Houllier, despite just two league wins from 11 games. The forward is also aware he is expected to deliver in the second half of the campaign after failing to hit the back of the net so far this term. "I don't look at the table and see how many points we are from the relegation zone, I look to see how many points we are off sixth spot," he said. "It's been disappointing for me. I've had an operation on a groin injury, hurt my back and then had a calf problem. "I've also had this bug that's been going round but I'm all fine now."
