Adebayor scores in Spurs win
Emmanuel Adebayor scored on his Tottenham debut Saturday to help Spurs earn their first Premier League win over the season with a 2-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Adebayor made his first start since joining on loan from Manchester City and opened the scoring midway through the second half after collecting a pass from fellow Tottenham newcomer Scott Parker.
Jermain Defoe doubled their lead after playing a one-two with Niko Kranjcar before drilling a low shot past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp made five changes from the side beaten 5-1 at home by Manchester City, with defender Ledley King making his first start of the campaign in place of the injured Michael Dawson.
Spurs was the more threatening side early, and twice came close to taking the lead within a few seconds.
First Hennessey did well to deny Adebayor at close range and the follow-up effort from Kranjcar was cleared off the line by Roger Johnson.
Parker set up an early chance for Defoe after dispossessing Karl Henry 30 yards from the Wolves goal but the England striker's shot was deflected wide.
Wolves hit back and Brad Friedel had to be alert to beat out a powerful drive from former Spurs player Jamie O'Hara. The Spurs goalkeeper then turned away a low curling shot from Henry around the post at full stretch after a powerful run by the midfielder.
Both sides were attacking thereafter and Adebayor had his first shot on goal after half an hour, but didn't trouble Hennessey.
Gareth Bale dragged a shot into the side-netting in first-half injury time.
Adebayor finally broke the deadlock after Parker supplied the pass and the striker took the ball around Hennessey before netting from close range.
