PARMA, Italy --

Ten-man Parma was beaten 1-0 by Chievo Verona in a Serie A match Wednesday that was postponed from the weekend due to snow, handing the hosts their fifth consecutive loss.

Ervin Zukanovic scored the only goal from a free kick that curled around Parma's wall in the 54th minute.

Parma was reduced to 10 men when Daniele Galloppa picked up his second yellow card after just 31 minutes.

Chievo, which ended a five-match winless streak, moved two points clear of the relegation zone while Parma remained bottom.

Last week, Parma was sold for the second time this season, with Giampietro Manenti taking over as new owner and president from the Russian-Cypriot conglomerate which had taken control in December.

Parma was already penalized one point earlier this season for failing to provide players' salaries and has until Feb. 16 to pay or face further punishment. ''I'm asking the fans to put their trust in me,'' Manenti said shortly before kickoff. ''It's a race against time, because the deadlines are imminent.''

Fans responded with chants critical of the ownership moves.
